Facebook has been offering an option to use the Encrypted “HTTPS” protocol, at stages and is a feature taunted to begin rolling out to completion in a “few weeks.”
You should check now if it’s available, and sign up as soon as it is enabled for your account.
Performance takes a small dive, and it’s very minute.
It’s an important step to keep your Facebook account safe from being hijacked on an open or poorly secured wireless network.
Security : Why Should I ?
By default, Facebook sends your access credentials without any encryption.
A browser extension called Firesheep has made it especially easy for anyone sharing your open wireless network (e.g. at a cafe, office conference) to sniff your credentials and access your account.
HTTPS solves this problem by encrypting your login cookies and other data.
Steps to Activate HTTPS
You can sign up for Facebook HTTPS by following these steps.
Account Settings
Select “Account Security” third from the bottom
Under “Secure Browsing”.
If your account has been activated with this feature, you will see a toggle box.
If not, don’t worry; it’ll appear soon.
